The Amazing Spider-Man Saves Everything But Plot

Disclaimer: I highly doubt that this grocery store comic book ever had any intentions of being proper literature.

That being said, this book was silly at its best, and at its worst, a complete and utter mess of a plot. It pages are filled with bright and detailed comic illustrations that draw kids in and the beloved Spiderman is a prop for Marvel to make more money off of kids at the grocery checkout. Its a capitalist ploy and a poor excuse for a book. The book unabashedly finds a way to include every villain in the Spiderverse and has no sense of time, space or purpose. The one thing this book does to successfully, though, is get kids to read by drawing them in with one of their favorite characters. Its silly and stupid, but if it gets kids to hit the print pages, it can't be too terrible.

  1. I think that grocery store books are a good way of keeping little kids occupied. Yes they may not be real literature, yes, they may have bad writing and silly plots, yes they are things that probably don't help in child development very much. But there is something good about them, they keep kids occupied when it comes to waiting in line and they are a better alternative than buying candy that rot children's teeth. I have a lot of happy memories of Spider-Man books, but the main point is Spider-Man. Beck.
