Goodnight Moon: An Enduring Classic

Image result for goodnight moon
Goodnight Moon is undeniably a classic. Its bright colors are appealing to the very young children who are reading it before bed and the illustration is relatively simple. It's message is sweet and gentle as a child says goodnight to the objects around them and it has endured the years because of this. It works because of its use of rhymes, words that correspond with easily recognizable images, and its use of repetition of words and sounds throughout the book. Young children can match the repeated words with their corresponding illustrations and recognize them over time.

Goodnight Moon is lovely to this day, though there may be more fun board books on the market now with slightly more of a plot, its still the perfect bedtime story for toddlers who don't want to miss out of the fun stuff going on around them.
