100 things you should know about OCEANS

The font and vocabulary in this book are easy to read and it is full of facts about different parts of the ocean. It even has several sections on how humans have related to and used the ocean throughout history which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, it is a bit dated. The title fonts resemble Comic Sans and the illustration style doesn't feel too modern either. The book also reinforces stereotypes about pirates and sharks. They present sharks as these menacing creatures which perpetuates fear when though they are a predator, they don't really have much interest in humans. I also feel like a modern version of this type of book should really include a section or two on our impact on the oceans and step we can take to protect the oceans. The earlier kids learn about how to take care of our earth, the better. Overall though, the book had a lot of info that was super accessible for readers age six to eight, but it hasn't aged well.
